This is the setup I default to when I want to operate away from the truck: small pack, quick deploy, and enough range to have real QSOs from a park or a scenic spot. It's not the fanciest station on the band, but it's the one I actually throw in a bag and use.
I run as KJ5LXP (General). In the field I care about stable power, an antenna I can get in the air without a full tower crew, and a rig I can read in sunlight after hiking. The details here will grow as I document new trips—think of it as a living field note, not a catalog spec sheet.
